By its very nature, this is a very intimate hotel, peaceful and relaxing, it has just 40 south facing bedrooms all of which are very pretty with views out to the gardens from their balconies.
Dining here is an experience in itself, breakfast is taken in the Pink Room, a room quite literally dating back to another era with varnished wooden floors, elegant drapes and crisp linen and when the sun shines, as it often does in Madeira, breakfast can be taken out on the adjoining verandah.
Evening meals are enjoyed in the remarkable Beresford restaurant which is named after General Beresford, Commander of the British Forces, who made this his home during the occupation of Madeira, at the time of the Napoleonic wars.
Certainly this is a restaurant where you can enjoy fine dining with produce grown in the garden of the Quinta along with local specialities if you so choose such as the scabbard fish, served with banana, pea mousse, endive and marinarted red onion.
The desserts here are mouthwatering and include such delights as chocolate paradise with tangerine sorbet.
